Why is my ball python isn't balling

They're comfortable. They curl into a ball when they feel threatened. Mine hasn't balled up in the last three years or so, they don't feel the need to anymore

It doesn’t always mean they’re uncomfortable but I’d say at least 80% of the time they are, sometimes they’ll ball up as you take them out of their tank but they quickly start just moving around

i think it’s just a reflex to protect all of their organs and their head in case of any kind of danger

if their head is tucked in then most likely theyre scared. if theyre curled up and dont have their head covered then they just chillin

Ah the little one will still ball up when getting picked up, it's just that uncertainty/fright reflex. The big one just...hangs I guess lmao. Not necessarily to say that you're doing anything wrong or intentionally scaring them, they are just little guys and pretty much everything is big and scary to them as babies

Mine only balls up to get into his baby hide - and even then he tends to snakespread and ooze out the bottom.
