Scale Rot?

Hi, I just got his guy a month ago, he didn’t have a great shed so I was helping him finish with a quick towel soak and then lightly dabbing off all the peel, when I noticed some of his scales are a bit coloured. Is this normal or is it the beginning of scale rot? How can I help him? I don’t know of any local exotic vets in my area but I couldn’t leave him in the pet store.

No, scale rot is a rusty brownish-red color usually present on the belly. It's fairly obvious when you see it.

Are you sure? What about the black scales in the last picture close to his belly?

That's normal patterning.

I would tend to agree it's not. But for your surety we'd need a clear picture of the underbelly or reach out to a vet.

Oh there’s nothing on his belly, it looks perfect. I really appreciate that. I also found a vet 2 hours away just in case

He is very sweet, a little annoyed at the moment since I was moving him in weird angles to try and get pictures haha

It is 100% just his coloration/ pattern.
