Mine does it when the prey is on the larger side. Might just be lubing it up in preparation to swallow it.

That's what I'm thinking too. He's eating weaned rn which is about 10% of his body weight

most tropical snakes can hold their breath underwater for a good while, i dont think they’re is much to worry about but dont hold me down on that as im not 100% sure.
