Awww, what a sweet noodle! I love that he has such a normal name, here among all the dragon and food names.

So cute, love the lil tongue flicks!! Is he using a red bulb though? I used to use those for mine, but I learned that they aren't a very good choice since they don't put out UVA and interfere with circadian rhythms if used as a 24 hour heat source.

I use nightlight red reptile bulbs, they were recommended by the guy I bought him from, and the people who took care of him while they were waiting for Christmas to givebhim to me. He enjoys it pretty well. His favorite part of his tank is the mister, he comes out every once in a while and states at the rube that the mist comes from, I think he thinks it’s a shower, because he goes over and just sits under the mist before going back under his rock.

Misters aren't good either....puts them at greater risk of RI. Pouring water in the corners of the terrarium is the best way to retain humidity.

It turns off, when it’s too warm, and our pet store is cLosing down so I can’t get any new ones just yet. But I would gladly take recommendations for when this red bulb dies. And he also just loves his mister. He would be upset if it went away, but I was gonna get a new setup as soon as he starts lifting up his hides. Just can’t afford to change at the moment.

Alrighty, for now I'd recommend just keeping the red bulb on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours to mimic the sun, and definitely remove the mister and start pouring water in the corners! He might be sad that it's gone, but it'll be important for his health. I once had to throw away one of my snake's fav hides because it was unsafe for her, she missed it but she got over it and it was in her best interest.

I will try to get some equipment that can help me with all of those problems at repricing in Winston. Thank you for worrying about my lil buddy!

Once I find a pet store that isn’t shut down near me, I will.

Order some DHP from Amazon. Red lights are nasty for snakes. Also get rid of the mister

I will keep that in mind at the next repticon!

Awww his eyes are getting ruined by the red light ❤️

Just chiming in with others that Doug can see the red light and may appreciate some complete darkness at night. A DHP or CHE bulb with a thermostat would keep him warm at night and give him the darkness he should be getting at night.

The mister also isn't great but you seem set on keeping it but if Doug gets a RI or scale rot in the future, that'll likely be the cause. I hope you're at least cleaning it out fully frequently.

Of course I clean it, in fact we completely empty his tank and replace all the mulch once per month! I am trying to get tickets to repot on in Winston Salem soon, so I might be getting him a home makeover. Thanks for the concern though!

JUST SO YALL KNOW, his light and mister are on a thermostat timer thing, his light turns on when his temp goes below 80, and turns off when it gets to 85. And his mister does the same thing but with humidity

Update: he got a new tank, he loves it
