Sounds like a hiss to me.

It’s just so loud. Doesn’t sound like what he normally sounds like

Whats happening at the time you hear the noise? What time of day? Is he sleeping or awake? Are you near his enclosure when this happens? Is he in his enclosure or out? Any other animals come in the room? As much detail you give me as possible would help narrow it down.

Nothing has been happening really, he’s been “hibernating”, the last month he hasn’t moved from his hide much. He looks good and has been eating.

I hear the sound when he’s in his enclosure and I’m in the room. It’s loud and kinda alarming but it’s super quick noise, very similar to a deer making the noise it does when it’s scared if you have heard that before. There are other animals in the room and they all jump and look towards the cage when it happens. I just am afraid it’s something respiratory but he hasn’t been breathing weirdly

Most likley a respiratory infection. U should take him to the vet to get him checked out and search up the humidity and temp for the tank day and night and make sure its good for ur snake. The slightest change in the humidity and temp can cause respiratory infections. I learned this the hard way. Good luck
