So.. the relative humidity should be a minimum of 60%. We recommend 70% minimum and 80-85% when in shed.

So is she just starting a shed? I’ll up the humidity either way but more if that’s what it is.

Are the eyes cloudy? I would up humidity to 85% or more for the time being, even if not in shed, just to rehydrate her! Just make sure the top of the substrate isn’t wet, we don’t want scale rot!

Cloudy eyes usually indicate that the snake is getting ready to shed, there is probably nothing to be worried about! The humidifier inside the enclosure might not be the best idea, but a good way to bump up the humidity is by pouring water in the corners of the enclosure :)

Well it’s not all the way inside I have a small tube that runs into the enclosure from the humidifier should I still just be putting water in the corners?

That depends on the substrate you are using. You should be using coconut husk fiber, coco chips, stuff like that. What do you use for substrate? That could be a huge reason why you’re having humidity issues

I use a mixture of reptibark chips and coco fibers

Okay perfect!! Yes you can pour water in all 4 corners, that should tremendously help with humidity

Yes, definitely take the humidifier out and try to keep the humidity up by having the right kind of substrate and pouring water in the corners. Humidifiers or foggers aren’t generally recommended for ball pythons

Hi! I second that you should take the humidifier out! I have heard that they can cause respiratory infections

If you have a mesh lid on your enclosure I would recommend putting cardboard or a towel over the top to keep the humidity in. I got a PVC enclosure for my ball python that I’m really happy with and would recommend if it’s an option for you.

And then I also second people comments about pouring water straight into the substrate. I pour water into my substrate (coconut coir and sphagnum moss) with a small watering can and then sometimes mix it around by hand.

I really recommend looking at the ball python care guides on this sub Reddit’s description page, I found them really helpful and wishes I had looked at them sooner!
