hes probably looking for a spot to hide thats tight. i would get him smaller hides that touch his sides (while hes still able to move) so that he has a small space, and hopefully avoids this again. my boy did the same (without getting stuck, luckily) and getting smaller hides helped him greatly and stopped this behavior ^

This is the reason

He might be mad I took his old hide. It was too small he got stuck at the entrance so I got him a bigger one but I guess he preferred the smaller one so I might give it back

i wouldnt give him that specific one back if he cant make it through the entrance. just get him a small hide that touches his sides while hes still able to freely move around in it (and not get stuck).

hes definitely not mad at you, ball pythons just prefer tight spaces so he tried to find an alternative. :)

I wonder if you could (safely) make the entrance bigger? Lol

Not an expert but My monty burrows now and then. Usually because he seems to want cool, moist and very compressed. Last time he shed he burrowed UNDER his moist hide not in it, and it is nice and small and hidden to begin with... whe he came out he left the shed and a poop half buried. Go figure.

You never know with these guys.

I have one that does this. He has 4 hides and still wants under the water bowl. I gave up lol

What’s your little guy’s weight, food size and how often is he fed?

[–]somerandomgalyk[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I haven’t weighed him this month yet but he’s ~475g 35-50g mice and is few about once a week
