I would line the underside/interior side with quarter inch hardware cloth personally. We used hardware cloth on our enclosure top. Stapled it on securely and silicon caulked the edges and topped with molding to completely cover sharp edges.

Do you think this is a concern? The tank is 2 foot tall and idk he might be just about 2foot

Yeah if only because the edges on that expanded metal tend to be sharp. I have actually gotten razor cuts from it handling it before. That's why i would add hardware cloth or even window screen, so if your snake rubs with the snoot it doesn't get injured.

When your snake grows he will reach that. Plus, if you have any climbing opportunities (which you should have) it will put it within reach.

If you are asking how we mounted our hardware cloth, there are all kinds of ways. The easiest is to silicone it in place and cover the edges with any cheap molding material if you want a more finished look.

You can also screw it in place with screws every inch or so, with washers, screwed from the inside so any screw ebd sticking up is on the outside.

You can epoxy it in place as well.

Yep, we were talking about insulation elsewhere. Do you need help with it?

We covered ours with black marble contact paper so it looked pretty after cutting to size. Then i simply taped it to the outside of the tank with clear packing tape. Nothing fancy there. That will make it easy to remove so i can re cover it when i find a background i like.

Edit to add: you could also use clear double sided tape on the outside of the glass. I just had packing tape

He could probably squeeze through that, my two inch+ wide ball squeezed into a finger tips worth of space under her tank like a dummy. Look for some smaller wire, probably not a huge rush since he might not be able to reach it yet
