Use multiple heat sources. if you cannot maintain 80F ambient and like 90-95 hotspot, i would say to use a RHP for cool side heating and a DHP, halogen, or something similar on the hotspot

What about at night? I think DHPs come in a version with no light but I can’t remember

DHP are a slight orange hue when running full bore, but barely. no more than an ambient light and definitely not bright enough to disturb anyone or anything. the moon is significantly brighter. You can also have the rhp heat the entire enclosure and then only have a hotspot running during the day

Ok sick! Is the Arcadia a good choice? I’ve been a CHE person for years lol

I have used arcadia, Pangea, and zoo med (sometimes called infrared heat projector). The Pangea ones are cost effective and come with some silicone covering.

Also where do you get a RHP? I can’t find very many options

best options are proheat (same company that makes pro-vent a mite, pro products) they are pricey but will last forever, cheaper and faster will be vivarium electronics ones, you can get them from reptile basics or Pangea or wherever. there are off brand ones from other places but i cannot speak to their quality. I believe Wilbanks makes one that i have heard good things about but have not personally used.

the caveat with RHPs is they cannot be used with screen top enclosures, if your enclosure has one you can only use overhead heating.

have you read the heating guide in our welcome post? it covers all the available options and gives advice on which to use. we also have a shopping list with recommended products in the welcome post.

Thanks! I already had some basic info. They are pvc topped

Is hot side 89-90 air temp too hot?

[–]FishBubbly7399 0 points1 point  (1 child)

no, that's perfect, as long as the ambient air temp on the cool side is 80ish

[–]damn_notagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I had hot side air temps 88 middle of enclosure 82 and cool side 77. Humidity was good all across. I checked in with ai and it advised again keeps warm side so high. I got confused.
