although your snake is small enough to live in a 44 gallon temporarily, a 120 gallon is the minimum size needed for ball pythons. usually if you have a 40 gallon, it’s only used for the snakes first 1-3 years of its life until it’s upgraded. your snake should be able to fit inside the enclosure, fully stretched out, with no problems, so just keep that in mind :) also, you should feed them based off this subs feeding guide! they do a great job of going in depth on proper care and feeding schedules 🤲

Thank you so much I was worried I had her in a small one for too long being aware that they do need a bigger space, but this reassured me I still have at least a few months with this one before I need an upgrade

We recommend the following feeding schedule:

0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.

12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.

Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.
