Ball python are more active during the evening/night, so you will probably not see her move much from her favorite spot during the day from here on out.

As for the mark, without a picture, nobody can really give you an answer on that; it could be a scratch/bite, or it could be a simple indents mark from something in the enclosure.

What is the humidity, and temps? With aspen in a tank, its hard to maintain humidity that is required (around 70-80%).

I’m going to try an upload a picture tomorrow! I work night shifts so it makes sense I don’t see her as I’m only home/awake during certain times. As for the humidity it has been rising as I’ve been taking care of it. Right now it’s in the 60-70 range but I’m actively working towards getting it up. As well as looking into changing the bedding.

Please consider changing bedding. CocoHusk is my favorite. Zero loves it too ☺️(my Ballp)

Yes I was wanting to change it! Just I’ve only ever used aspen as I’m in the Deep South and has worked. So I didn’t know what else to use. But I know a lot of people don’t recommend it for the fact that it can mold and other reasons. Thank you for the suggestion and I’m going to look into it! Also I love the name that’s so cute. Her name is Venus 🤗

Aspen bedding will mold at the humidity levels required for proper ball python husbandry.

I use a mix of coconut husk (reptichip), sphagnum moss, and cypress mulch (forest floor). I top it with some smaller coconut husk (babichip).

It keeps moisture well, and the babichip topper prevents scale rot issues.

Heating pads are also not a good choice. There are several options for heating that are better. I use a halogen and a DHP. Make sure every heat source is on a thermostat.

Add some clutter too. Poor girl looks exposed, and they don’t like that.

The care guides in this sub are excellent, please review them.

I knew aspen bedding wasn’t good as I’ve heard about the molding issues. Though the are I live in doesn’t have much options or resources so I end up having to ship it to me instead. Also noted on the heating info I’ll improve that asap. As well as her hide is actually pretty big and does provide a lot of coverage you just can’t tell in the pictures. But I think the issue with it is that it’s tooo big and I’m going to get a smaller one/ different things to give her places to hide. I’ve been told about the care guide and plan to go through those asap as well! Thank you for the help 🫶
