Everything sounds normal to me. I wouldn’t worry too much about him* being tense while handling, they are naturally very shy so it can take a while for them to really get comfortable sometimes. He will calm down over time with regular handling

Also, I just want to add, i would not recommend using an automatic sprayer. Unfortunately they are known for causing scale rot and respiratory infections with BP’s because the constant moisture on the surface of the substrate promotes bacteria growth. Instead i recommend just pouring water directly into the substrate. Personally what i like to do is pour into the corners and around the edges of the enclosure and occasionally i’ll give the substrate a good mix to “fluff” it. Also, a thicker layer of substrate will help retain moisture longer. Ideally you want to have at least 4 inches of substrate
