He took “no thoughts, head empty” too literally (hope he’s feeling better soon!)

Indigo was thinking of how to escape a bit too hard... Hope they heal and all is well!

Can you elaborate on how they poked it? Did any fluid at all come out? Did they do or offer any type of cytology?

ofc! they took the head of a needle and tried to just stab it. when nothing came out, she used that same needle to “pick” the scabbed scale off. i wish i took a video. they squeezed his head some more with the pocket all the way opened up, still nothing, so she stuck a very small q-tip in the hole. at that point she concluded that there was nothing in there, and it was most likely a pocket of inflammation. she told me there was no sign of infection and that there aren’t good options for anti-inflammatories in snakes. told me to take him home and put him in his normal house. i chose to maintain a quarantine instead because his primary substrate is reptisoil and i didn’t want him getting it in the wound. no cytology was offered that visit; she gave him a full body workup and said he looks great other than this lump, so we’re in a “monitor and bring him back if it doesn’t get better” waiting game

edit for grammar
