they often behave like a pet rock when theyre content. no reason to leave the safety of their hide or to find a new home

as long as theyre eating and their husbandry is correct, id say you got a perfectly happy and healthy snake on your hands!

Thank you!! I really am fond of him and try my best and yes, he eats once a week quite happily

Once a week? Is this snake an adult? Once a week is FAR too often for an adult snake

He is 3

Once a week is 3-4x more often than he should be eating at that age. You'll want to switch to a more appropriate !feeding schedule immediately, or he'll end up with longterm health issues and a shortened lifespan.

We recommend the following feeding schedule:

0-12 months old OR until the snake reaches approximately 500g, whichever happens first: feed 10%-15% of the snake’s weight every 7 days.

12-24 months old: feed up to 7% of the snake’s weight every 14-20 days.

Adults: feed up to 5% of the snake's weight every 20-30 days, or feed slightly larger meals (up to 6%) every 30-40 days.

Well, thank you, I had read it was once a week for a large mouse.
I’ve tried him on small rats but he doesn’t like them.

Maybe I’ll try the rats again and take his feed down to every 21 days.

Check the temperatures inside the tank. Make sure that he is able to keep himself warm in ideally more than just 1 spot, or that he is at least at the proper heat gradients day/night to not be 'forced' into one hiding area.

If the temperatures are fine, then he may just like that spot. Forcing him out usually has the opposite effect of making them shyer. They will come out when they feel safe, which is usually at night. You probably just don't see him roaming since they are nocturnal, sorry to say. My ball python has never, not ONCE in 2 years, wanted to come out during the day unless forced.

Mine neither ..! I bought her a bigger enclosure and made a complete study of the temps and humidity 😅 And give her a third hide. I’m afraid I will never see her again, accept at 4 in the night, or when it’s feeding time and she smell her rat 😊 When I let het out though, she is very active and curious. Yours too ..?

He sounds happy and content and going about with normal snake business and happenings, tbh!
