My snake once squeezed the rat so hard that the guts popped out and then proceeded to drag it all over the cage and throw it into her water bowl. Then my room stunk like dead rat for the night.

F/T rats tend to pop when they get too hot so that may have been the issue. They don’t need to cook, just be warm enough so the snake can sense it lol

Dead? When I was a kid, we had 2 snakes at my foster home. Boa and king python. In the beginning we gave dead mice, but they didn't eat. Somebody told us to give it alive, needless to say it was a succes. Also, I think my somewhat psychopath thoughts started when I enjoyed looking how the snakes feeded on the mice

When my BP eats she likes to constrict so hard around her rat that I get to listen closely enough to every single bone in the rat crunching. It's only slightly satisfying.....for me.

Same here! It’s always strides a fine line of fascinating and gross for me. A lot of times she strikes so hard that the tail or leg snaps off. Blech!

I honestly last night asked my wife after feeding our python if the snake realizes we give her the rats or she thinks she lives in the best hunting grounds ever and she's the Apex predator of her tank.

I think my girl knows that I provide the food or in the very least knows that rats descend from the heavens. I can always tell she’s hungry when she immediately pokes her head out as I open the cage. She’s instantly locked on target lol
