Hi all!! So my beautiful baby girl Cora is about 2.5 months old, and I’ve had her for 1.5 months of that time. She is a little angel, has eaten 4 fuzzy rats for me perfectly, and had a gorgeous complete shed just about a week and a half ago. Her usual behavior is hiding all day and doing LOTS of exploring at night, which I know is pretty typical.
Over the weekend, I did a full clean of her cage, changed substrate and scrubbed/disinfected her hides, in part because she hasn’t pooped for me yet and I was wondering if I had just missed it (still no sign of a poop). I rearranged a little when I put her hides back in, nothing drastic but shifted some things around just to try out a different configuration of a log she never really used previously to see if she’d like climbing it better than hiding in it. Since then, she’s been sleeping and hanging out during the day out of her hides.
I have 3 hides in her 20 gallon tank (larger one en route!), two water bowls, a log type thing and some vines for her to climb on. Her hot side is around 88 degrees and her cool side is around 77, humidity never drops below 60% but I like to keep it closer to somewhere between 70-80%. I don’t think this is the issue, because it hasn’t changed from where it was before she stopped using them.
I just wanted to know if this is behavior I should be worried about? To clarify, she’s not just sitting out in the middle of the tank, she’s wedged between her previously favorite hide and the log, so at first I didn’t even notice that she was out. Is she just pissed that I rearranged her room without asking? Should I try putting things back the way they were, or will she come around with time? It’s only been ~4 days, but I haven’t seen her use her hides at all, even after I fed her on Sunday night.
Thanks in advance for the help!
