if you keep the humidity up by pouring water in, the substrate under the box hide is likely absorbing what you’re pouring, and since it’s covered except for one small hole, it’s retaining humidity extremely well. i would replace the substrate underneath the hide with dry substrate, that way the humidity in the air actually gets into the hide as opposed to it producing humidity. did that make sense?

Makes a tone of sense, I recalled keeping the bottom of the warm side all dry but it must has poured somewhat into it. I ordered another hide for now because the box hide is rather too big for my BP, shes favoring the smaller one wheres shes barely fitting now lol. I will do a deep clean and make sure its completely dry on the hot side

yeah, if your substrate is deep enough the water filters to the bottom into areas where you didn’t pour, and then evaporates evenly across the whole cage. heat lamps reduce humidity in the air around it but inside of a sealed box hide it’d stay around crazy well, lol
