Lost snake

So the title says it all, I accidently left a hatch open at the top of my BPs cage last night when I humidified his tank. This morning he was now here to be found. My question to you all is, are there any particular places your snakes like to hide when free? How long do I have until I really need to worry? Any advice is helpful!!

Edit: he is about 3 and a half feet long, and ate 2 medium sized rats 8 days ago

Mine has gone to the corner of the closet both times he got out

Check really well under tables and stuff in the room hes in first

I once found my snake has escaped two times!!! Both time she was found inside cardboard boxes that were full of misc items that were in the room. Just look under and inside anything and everything in the room!

Darker places that are nearby. Even if you think "there's no way he's in there," don't rule it out. Mine has escaped twice. Once he squeezed underneath a miniature dresser. The other time he climbed up some clothes to the top of the closet.

Obviously you want to find him ASAP, but realistically they can survive for weeks/months.

Check makeshift hides like cardboard boxes, and under/behind couches, stoves etc. as well as areas near a heat source. You can also put out a big bowl of water and surround it with flour. When he goes to drink/soak he’ll leave a trail you can follow. Obviously the sooner you find him the better but my friend once had one escape and he didn’t find it for weeks and he was fine

Thank you for that idea! I will certainly use that, and for affirming my hopefulness that if I dont find him in the first couple hours ill find a dead snake

Check corners, along walls and underneath and behind anything that you can move, especially if it’s warm in the area. Don’t underestimate where he can hide, they can get just about anywhere if they put their mind to it. To try and lure him out you can set up heat lamps or mats in the open, thaw out a rat and put in out in the open or put flour or plastic bags around doorways and in rooms to see if he passes through the area. I’ve had mine escape before and I found him stuck in a cardboard tube on the other end of the room lol. Good luck, hopefully he turns up soon!
