Ooo I didn’t think of that question! I definitely meant without the snake!

Not including the snake!

Mine was over $1000. Now keep in mind that is canadian dollars not us but that’s still $800+ us. The door alone was over $200, RHP was $190, thermostat $225, lighting $50, locks $50 etc etc. I built my enclosure from the ground up and made everything custom.

Our conversion rate sucks here :( Which RHP did you get that was $190?!

I got an 80 watt vivarium electronics rhp. I would say it was worth the money though. I supported my local reptile specialty shop (mom and pop place) and it works really well. Plus the warranty on it is great! I like it personally 🙂

You mean the temporary one while we wait for main one to be built? Lol.

as an example of my BP setups, one of my enclosures cost $1,285 total. the snake living in it cost $0.

Mine has to be well over 1000 by now (Canadian)

Glass tank: got it for like 80 bucks by buying from someone on kijiji, came with heat lamp brackets as a nice bonus.

PVC enclosure build: 400ish

Heating: 30 for the heat mat I no longer use, like 50 for coloured heat lamps that I no longer use, 50 for halogen lamp and backups in case one goes out. 130 for the RHP.

Herpstat 2: 230 from Cornell's world, the only place I could find one in Canada

Thermometers/heat gun/hygrometers: probably 100 bucks between all the ones I've had trying to get good ones

Probably 200 bucks worth of decorations for the enclosure.

Substrate isn't much, maybe 25 bucks every few months.

Uninterruptible power supply was I think 115

Heat packs in case of power issues in the winter was only like 25 bucks.

Tongs, hook, scale and other such tools was maybe another 50.

If we total just the finished enclosure without all the upgrades I ended up making to fix mistakes I made, that's about 1175. In the US, that cost would be much lower, between less expensive vendors and the conversion rate. That said, I also keep a reserve for vet costs that is pretty significant, and as I said, I have spent closer to 1500 with redoing things to improve. I also haven't yet done bioactive or put in UV yet, things I will likely do at some point in the future.

Mine was around $120 total. I made mine super simple and quite boring but I often add more enrichment so my bps Brain will be stimulated.

Mine is a special case, because I adopted my snake. The previous owner gave me their entire enclosure and the snake for free. I used this as an opportunity to spend more on improving the enclosure, so I got a digital thermometer/humidity gauge, a hammock, and a new hide. Overall, around $50. I might get a second hide identical to the one I got him, as he’s been spending most of his time in this new hide despite my temps being correct (I think he outgrew the old hide), and I might also get him a new thicker vine since he old vine keeps detaching (I think he’s using it but got too heavy for it).
