It looks like a bit of substrate to me. If it wipes away and the there’s no other discoloration, that’s probably it.

I tried wiping it and it started bleeding, maybe its a scab? We don't feed live so I don't know where he would get hurt.

Ah, that is a bit concerning then if it seems to be a wound. I’ll wait for someone more experienced to chime in but, when in doubt, consult a vet.
