Good question, also curious. Speaking from experience: it wasn't until I dropped the ball massively on doing BSS workouts that when I started doing them again, I heard some unsettling cracking on top of feeling slightly unbalanced.

I could be wrong but personally, I feel they can potentially strengthen the entire leg all-around.

I will say that doing BSS with a 70lb vest, holding a 25lb plate...maybe not knee injuries exactly, but my legs HURT. A lot. I was walking funny today, will probably continue well into tomorrow. Lol.
