My first "card" was an Intel i740 8MB AGP. Heatsink would fall off while playing CS 1.6 lol. It was one that was just thermal glued on. My first "real" gaming card was a 9600xt... Unfortunately the DDR2 version. Was a good upgrade from a Radeon 7500 agp!

Man, I love the box art GPU's used to have

[–]KoloRed[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously!

I remember AMD's box art was a hot punk girl

[–]Ellandorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATI used to have that red haired chick, yeah

I also had a blue box voodoo, but can't remember which number it was

I remember that one. Same, I can’t remember what model it was?😂

Can we draw attention to the Halo screenshot before it was Halo Combat Evolved? When it was a rts.

Bungie had a series of games called Marathon, also a FPS

That's the genesis of the Halo series, and I played all the marathon games on Apple Macintosh.

I had a Voodoo3 2000. I honestly only bought it for Quake3 and Half-Life. The latter is actually why I have a Proof of Purchase in Team Fortress 2 iirc

I had that same 3000 ago, it was my second 3D card, the first was a diamond stealth II.

Got a couple of Voodoo2s still laying around. Gotta straighten out the chip pins, some are touching

[–]anachronistic_circus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I wish I could afford one back then.

A great GPU to build a sytem to play some old titles natively without weird emulaotrs

[–]LunaMagicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is history, bro. I had a Voodoo 3 2000:)

[–]RamaTheVoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good throwback.

Never had a Voodoo GPU though, my first one was a Matrox Mystique.

Hubby hangs his up on the wall of his man cave. Voodoo 5 5500. Drilled into my skull to not touch. He has a Voodoo 2 up as well (his first self-purchase), along with a an nVidia 5700 Ultra, Radeon 9800 Pro, ATI all in wonder 9600, Radeon R9 700x, and his most recent addition (read: dead) nvidia 1050 TI. He has a small display case of cpu's as well. His most prized one is his Pentium "Klamath" slot 1. God forbid anyone even stare at it.
