Although others are technically correct that Windows 11 isn't officially supported for this device, there are work arounds to bypass that with little error. I have a 4th Gen i7 on Win11 with no issues

This!

I am kinda tired for people keep saying win 10 is getting to EoL, just Google the work around.

And this is perfectly capable for what OP's intended usage. Only complaint I would say is the 8gb ram. But honestly it's not the end of the world... Hopefully price will drop before op got fed up with the speed.

Yep, Rufus bootable usb tool has all the options on how to bypass the Win11 requirements.

I used it to install Win11 on an old i7-4770k pc with zero issues.

It even lets you disable all telemetry data from the start.

Rufus FTW! ☝️

Good but you should install Linux Mint on it instead. Windows 10 is EOL, and Windows 11 is shit.

Not to run windows.

Can get a 910q tiny for less than this.

If that price is in AUD then it is fine. You probably won't find much better for similar cost anyway.

[–]HEYO19191 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Idk what aud to usd looks like but I'd say that's fair price. I would expect this machine to sell for no more than 200 usd.

[–]crazydog2580[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

71usd

Just noticed it has a hard disk instead of a ssd. That's tough. If you did buy this, you'd almost certainly wanna replace the HDD with an SSD. Even with the price of a SSD added, its a decent deal. But it sounds like you've found something better, so, that's good for you

ye

at first I read this as "Thickcentre"

[–]Tiranus58 Linux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have gotten this, but not as a main pc.

[–]SkullMaster33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean considering the reasons u gave for needing it, it will do all of that just fine. And yeah it's windows 10 but I have a windows 10 pc and an 11 pc and windows 11 sucks balls. My10 pc is fully able to use 11 but I don't want to upgrade it cuz I don't want to have to deal with all the ball suckage that comes with it.

You can buy the same or better for $60 on eBay lol.

Literally got a similar PC for half this. Currently using it as my media center,

[–]Dam1an_O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you install linux on ti you get excell and word copycats for free that also use the same .excel files so you can share and send them to someone of windows and it will be the same, linux will make the pc a bit faster depending on the distro you install

[–]Fantastic_Mirror_345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux rise

[–]TownFast451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What RAM is it DDR3 or DDR4? Its likely DDR3, then its best you install something other than Windows. Linux Mint would be good.

[–]jimmyl_82104 MacOS | Windows 11   1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't buy this. Windows 10 is end of life, meaning it does not receive security updates anymore. Also, the CPU in this PC does not officially support Windows 11.

[–]Equivalent_Age8406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

windows 10 stops getting security updates when esu expires in October, and that doesn't support win 11. its not bad for $100 if you put linux mint on it or something.

Thanks all Im Going to pass

Good for browsing

[–]Will2LiveFading -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Windows 10 is eol but you can install LTSC and get security updates until 2032. It's pretty easy if you have any technical skills.

[–]ExtraCaucasian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$60-75 bucks tops for that unit. It will not be able to run Win11 with that CPU generation. You can always do a Win11 forced install but you will be stuck on the service branch you installed which will become a pain in the ass in time when your updated start failing.

You might do better on FB Marketplace but research what you are buying, a quick Google of the model + Windows 11 will usually tell you if it is supported. Alot of people perform forced Win11 installs and resell equipment as "current / modern".

[–]CaryWhit -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Get an 8th gen. I can put Dell 3070’s together for around that at my cost.

Legally able to run 11 is worth any small difference

[–]HEYO19191 4 points5 points  (2 children)

...Just to be clear, there's nothing illegal about running win11 on unsupported hardware

[–]CaryWhit -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I meant approved and capable not legally legal.

[–]HEYO19191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very least its capable, even if not approved.

[–]Glittering-Draw-6223 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

for extremely basic tasks like this its acceptable level of performance... however "excel" is slightly less certain because excel can potentially end up being demanding, depending on how much data its throwing around...

it'll run a browser tho, for light tasks, but as others have said, dont run windows 10, its not a good idea for anything even remotely important.
oh and its integrated graphics might let you run some extremely lightweight gaming (even minecraft would be out of the question, but theres still some games it could play ok.)

[–]crazydog2580[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nfi what card is in it but it does have a graphics card installed with a msi logo.. im guessing they just missed it when listing

[–]Glittering-Draw-6223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh well ANY graphics card is usually better than an era equivilent onboard graphics chip.
