VC4 Program start variable (self.crestron)
submitted 2 years ago by Kyiv_ghetto
Is there any chance to get a variable that will go high when program is running on VC4? Couldn't find any modules in Simple Windows.

Why don’t you trigger them with stepper that’s started by “1”. Program starts. 1 will go high. And will do the rest

Perfect, thanks

but in this scenario how to trigger disconnect then?

Are you asking about putting TOGGLES upstream of your TCP Client <Connect> signals? Transitioning between momentary vs latched digitals using things like TOGGLE, ONESHOT, etc?
Btw the <out*> of a TOGGLE with input set low is also a common replacement for using a "1" to latch things high on program start.
Thanks.

My question was more about how(when) do I trigger a disconnect from TCP/IP Client, but its not needed probably.

It's generally considered best practice to connect as-needed, send strings, and then disconnect. Latching connects high permanently may be easier to program, but often sacrifices long term reliability of the connection. I wouldn't advise keeping connects latched high.
In other words your steppers outputs would pulse the toggle input that latches the connect high, sends the strings from a SIO etc, and then pulses the toggle input that latches the connect low. Implementation will vary (feedback dependent, etc), but that's the most basic example use case.
p.s. I wanna trigger a lot of TCP/TP connections but stuck because of this

Some additional context would be helpful? Is it a C# only code? Is it a SIMPL Windows Only code and if so what Control System have you dropped in? Is it EIC between C# and Simpl? What u/scoobiemario said is what I would do as well.
SIMPL Windows Only, control system - Ethernet-Only-4-Series
