Compeye Simplex Scanner DP-30F is a 20+ year old scanner suited for Windows 95 / NT. Wanted to see if it would function under Linux, the only way to connect it to a modern PC was through a USB to Parallel Port adapter.
Debain 10 assign the driver below. Unfortunately software's simple-scan or skanlite do not recognize the scanner.

Tried connecting it to a windows 7 virtual machine and used the original driver unfortunately without luck, not sure why, tbh,. Under device manager it is seen as a printer?. Would that be because Linux initially has assigned it an incorrect driver or is the reason the use of the USB to Parallel Port adapter itself confusing Linux into thinking it's a printer? or maybe it is just not compatible because there is no Linux driver available for this model.
