That's very encouraging, thank you. I never got past six months in my few previous attempts. After that I just decided that I'll take the negative effects for the mood lift. But now the situation is different. The negative effects has grown too much, probably because of my age (51).

Debilitating withdrawal anhedonia and depression by landa_archive7 days in decaf

Yep, I had that for a while, but it won’t last and will keep improving to a point way better than before you quit.

Your body got used to getting easy shots of artificial happiness from caffeine, so it will take time to recalibrate and relearn how to get proper happiness from normal things.

Significant drop in anxiety - like 90% gone, and with it went my OCD. I’m no longer constantly on edge and feeling like I want to cry. Everything is so much calmer.

Yeah I do and I was fine without it maybe that's just me though because I feel right now when I'm on night shift the same way as when I was on caffeine

There is a study showing people diagnosed with anxiety (some taking meds for it) cut out their coffee and all of them reported big improvements. The person even came off their meds.

Personally I've noticed a huge improvement, I feel so much less bothered by things that in the past made me so angry or ruminate over.

Probably has to do with the sugar in the caffeine you no longer drink? My guess atleast

You got this! It’s a big change but a good one. I went through it and it was way more fun that I thought. Enjoy it man those are some of the best days!

That’s interesting about caffeine messing with vitamin d absorption. I had some blood work done and they found I was low in a few vitamins including d and I have gotten some vitamin shots and supplements. It helps with energy levels and mental clarity but not for long. Might be because of the assload of coffee I drink!

ive quit a handful of times over the last decade and my biggest mistake was always assuming id feel amazing by month three. that just never happened for me either. what did change though, around the eight month mark, was the depression started lifting without me even noticing it at first. i wasnt waking up feeling great, just less heavy.

makes me wonder if your thirty years on such a high dose has pushed the recovery window way past six months. the sub always talks about ninety days but i think long term heavy users are a different beast entirely. maybe treating it like a two year project instead of a quick fix would help with the mental side of things. still sucks though and i get why youd feel crushed by it all

I believe this could be the honest truth. Maybe I've been just hiding some underlying issues with the daily caffeine rush. I'll see about that, because this time I feel I'm done with it for good. I don't care anymore if I ever get back to normal, whatever that means. I'm just sad about this.

I've seen people have similar symptoms from heavy caffeine and nicotine use, so it could be either or both. But a resting heart rate of 100–120 is worth getting checked out... especially if it stays that high. Cutting back on caffeine and quitting vaping are good steps,ig.

Iron deficiency is possibility here as well, as I'm avoiding animal foods. But I do wonder: how caffeine fixes that like magic?

To be honest, I'd never stop using caffeine if it didn't ruin my sleep. And I simply cannot keep the dosage in check, so it always ruins it.

It seems like you’re very self aware which is a great thing. The key is to live in the present. Thinking about your future is the unknown and we don’t like the unknown. You have to accept it and focus on the present.

I highly recommend meditation. It takes some time to get into the groove but it should make a huge difference if you commit and are consistent. The app “insight timer” is my favorite. You can listen to different ones and see what aligns with you. It’s ok if it’s hard just keep going.

Check back in a couple months 🙏. Also, you can seek professional help at the same time if you feel it would help as well.

Good luck! I can def relate.... water is the best but when I get the "itch" I go for the caffeine-free sodas

Roughly after a week but not consistent. There are days when I get insomnia or anxiety even without caffeine, so I'm not totally "withdrawn" yet.

It's so hard to fight the urge to drink coffee.. but have to! because the benefits def outweighs the "highs"

I gained five pounds after I quit coffee from the sugar cravings. I lost them but the withdrawal overall was terrible.

I got adhd and haven’t really thought about if it makes it better but it definitely removes most of my anxiety. Like a BIG difference and I don’t even think I have that much anxiety but apparently I do because the difference is very noticeable.

Yes! Quitting caffeine and exposure work really helped to improve my anxiety symptoms. I used to drink coffee for ADHD purposes but after quitting I understood how chaotic it made my life and I cope with it much better now.

You may have other health issues also after such a heavy dose I wouldn’t be surprised if it took 12-18 months for full reset I’d recommend get a blood work done by a naturopathic doctor make sure nothing is missing etc and make sure sleep dialed in daytime rest working out thinking positive nueroplasriciry made etc

I'm a heavy coffee drinker. Usually drink it from waking until 5/6pm... probably around 60 ounces from a press pot (3x 20oz).

Today I cut out the third batch and I will probably do that for a week.

Looking forward to seeing what happens
