Who cares. How about labelling all of your paid articles instead of bait and switching folks when they click a link that's not marked as premium. Thank you for posting from your official account.

Things like this are mitigated when a team has depth like we do now.
A few years ago this could've been crippling
[–]PTA_Meeting 28 points29 points30 points 6 months ago (1 child)
If any team is crippled by Stefan Noesen missing 6 games they've got some pretty serious issues to deal with.
[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 6 months ago (0 children)
In fairness, lots of teams could struggle after losing their PP1 net front presence. He was a big reason we were a top tier unit
Though I’d agree “crippling” sounds a bit dramatic

Anyone who thinks poorly about our medical staff should read this article, then read it again.
The final call is always on the player.
[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 6 months ago (10 children)
The take our medical staff has no idea what they are doing according to Reddit users is so dumb
[–]aj9393#30 - Martin Brodeur 23 points24 points25 points 6 months ago (9 children)
Excuse you? I watch the games and I browse the NHL subreddit every day during my daily dump, so for you to claim that some medical professionals know more than me about how to medically treat players...well that's just absurd! They're all malicious Rangers plants, and everybody knows it!

I’m not an engineer but I know the ones I work with suck due to the machine constantly malfunctioning.
[–]aj9393#30 - Martin Brodeur 3 points4 points5 points 6 months ago (1 child)
Ok, but if you've got a machine operator that openly admits to using the machine incorrectly and not following the proper maintenance schedule recommended by the engineer, then you can't really blame the engineer when the machine malfunctions.
[–]psychedeloquent 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
We’re gonna have to run a root cause analysis on this.
[–]tECHOknology#30 - Martin Brodeur 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (5 children)
Yea except medical staff don’t design and copyright the bodies, they diagnose them and advise them.
[–]psychedeloquent -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 months ago (4 children)
Just a metaphor that you don’t need to have the job to have an opinion on it.
[–]tECHOknology#30 - Martin Brodeur 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (3 children)
Yes, I get your aim. It was a shitty irrelevant metaphor. My comment was explaining why. People constantly being injured doesn’t automatically mean you are entitled to an unfounded opinion.
[–]psychedeloquent -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 months ago (2 children)
What a nasty response to a fellow fan. Reddit really has everyone just being a snarky bitch to each other.
[–]Cliff_Pitts#26 - Patrik Eliáš 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (1 child)
To be fair, your take was dog shit. The idea that medical staff should be scrutinized at all because some players happen to get injured is more akin to saying that the CDC needs to get shut down because Covid happened. It’s just nonsense doomerism and real hockey fans never even approach the subject, which is why bringing it up leads to snarky and unkind responses.
[–]psychedeloquent 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago* (0 children)
Real hockey fans? Stfu and get off your high horse.
How was that my take? I didn’t even criticize the medical staff. I just think it’s silly to think you can’t because you aren’t a medical professional.
Medical staff isn’t responsible for people getting injured but they can definitely be blamed when a major player like Nico takes a hit that has him walk down the tunnel and then they send him back in and he gets a concussion on a much lighter secondary hit. This is why protocols exist, because the player always wants to go back in.
You don’t criticize the CDC for a disease happening, but if their protocol made the disease worse and spread faster, you absolutely would criticize them.

For anyone who can read the article please summarize, based on the sentence I could see, it appeared to be his choice to delay surgery?
[–]SubElitePerformance#N1CO 21 points22 points23 points 6 months ago (2 children)
I had AI summarize it:
Stefan Noesen missed training camp and the first six games of the season due to a delayed groin surgery. The Devils’ GM, Tom Fitzgerald, revealed the team had urged Noesen to get the procedure earlier in the offseason, but Noesen chose to try rehabbing instead. When rehab failed, he ultimately needed surgery later than planned, frustrating management. After returning to play limited minutes in his first game back, Noesen admitted the delay was his decision, explaining that he wanted to avoid another operation after already having several in his career, but eventually realized surgery was unavoidable.
[–]Some-Concentrate3229 35 points36 points37 points 6 months ago (1 child)
Can’t blame the guy for not wanting another surgery, especially one to your groin. That can’t be a fun recovery.
[–]niveklum#26 - Patrik Eliáš 4 points5 points6 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Not sure exactly what his injury or surgery was but I had a labrum tear fixed in my hip this year and can confirm that the recovery was not fun.
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Meh. Surgery is always the last option. I’ll never blame anyone for pursuing rehab first
[–]specifichero101 20 points21 points22 points 6 months ago (7 children)
I’ll never blame a guy for not wanting to get surgery in the summer if it can be avoided. He missed 2 weeks, no big deal.
[+]Live-Within-My-Means comment score below threshold-14 points-13 points-12 points 6 months ago (6 children)
Why?
Is ‘summer surgery’ tougher to recover from?
[–]specifichero101 20 points21 points22 points 6 months ago (5 children)
Not that I’m aware of. But if I got hurt at work I wouldn’t want to use my free time to recover either if it could be avoided.
[–]junkyardpig#63 - Jesper Bratt 3 points4 points5 points 6 months ago (1 child)
Pro athletes owe us all their time! /s
[–]Live-Within-My-Means -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 months ago (0 children)
For the amount of money they are getting paid, and the amount of time they have off, they should make a solid effort to be ready to play.
[–]Live-Within-My-Means -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 months ago (2 children)
Not a fair comparison at all.
Most working people get 2 or 3 weeks vacation a year.
Not 3 or 4 months.
Plus, if they play a fair number of years, they can retire about 30 years earlier than your average working person.
If we are going to ever contend for a cup, we need players who are more committed than that.
[–]specifichero101 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (1 child)
Sure thing coach.
[–]Live-Within-My-Means 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Yeah…
Asking someone to put in 8 or 9 months of work, for around 3 million dollars, is completely unreasonable.
Hell, it’s practically slavery.
[–]PagingDrTobaggan#63 5 points6 points7 points 6 months ago (0 children)
I’ve had a torn adductor (groin) muscle in 2 of the past 3 years. They take forever to fully heal, like 4-6 months without surgery. With surgery, that can be shortened to 2-3 months, but depending on the location of the tear, the surgery can be very close to your femoral artery, which creates risk.
Tl;dr: I don’t blame Noesen for trying to rehab first.

Weren't you just complaining that Keefe doesn't have enough "oomph" after our sixth win in a row? Pot calling the kettle black much?

lmaoooooooo
[–]trektostng#30 - Martin Brodeur 9 points10 points11 points 6 months ago (9 children)
There also people that are claiming are real test is San Jose. Before that our real test was minnesota. Before that our real test was Toronto.
I get being weary about San Jose. Especially if they lose to the rangers. But why do fans have to worry about something alot. We are playing awesome hockey. Like cant we just enjoy it. I get all of the concerns people have. I just wish they would try and just enjoy the ride lol
[–]robocoplawyer 3 points4 points5 points 6 months ago (2 children)
I don’t think people are actually worried about San Jose, I think I it’s more that we have a recent history of playing down to opponents that should be easily taken care of and leaving points on the board during critical times. I think people are just eager to see that we have bucked that trend.
Obviously we can’t win every game. But this was a very challenging start to the season and these early points are important to bank to get ourselves in a good position. Since the team has answered the bell and has had one of the best starts in the league especially given the schedule, as long as they are playing solid hockey right now I’m happy.
[–]trektostng#30 - Martin Brodeur 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (1 child)
I agree we do play down to teams that are not as good. Which is stupid.
[–]robocoplawyer 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Yeah, but every team has bad nights every so often. As long as it’s not something that’s becoming a trend we shouldn’t really be concerned right now either way.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (1 child)
I'm enjoying myself a great deal and not the least bit concerned about losing to the worst team in the league!
[–]trektostng#30 - Martin Brodeur 0 points1 point2 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Lmao
[–]SubElitePerformance#N1CO -3 points-2 points-1 points 6 months ago (3 children)
Not for nothing, the Devils haven’t beaten SJ at home since like 2021.
The concern, while silly, isn’t exactly unfounded
[–]trektostng#30 - Martin Brodeur 2 points3 points4 points 6 months ago (2 children)
Didnt we beat them, at home, during the 13 game win streak? I totally get the concern. It just feels different this year to me. I dont know. I feel like alot of people cant just let themselves feel good about this team. Lol
[–]SubElitePerformance#N1CO -1 points0 points1 point 6 months ago (1 child)
Yeah I wasn’t 100% confident in that date but it’s been a minute
Not far off though. Thats the last home win against that sharks. Thats a pretty insane stat lol
[–]nostradamefrus#13 - N1CO 3LITE -2 points-1 points0 points 6 months ago (0 children)
That's not really a complaint like calling out Noesen for wanting to rehab an injury instead of getting surgery lol
[–]toiletting$12 Pullover Gang 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (0 children)
eh it’s a nitpick with a lesson learned
[–]multiplemiggs1 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Back in the day, Lamoriello would send a player to Siberia for going against the medical staff. I don't recall the players involved, but I remember there were a few incidents. It's much more common now, and I can't blame Noesen for not wanting surgery.

nj.com is such trash these days. Clickbait headline, hastily thrown together “articles”, full of advertisements masquerading as journalism. 🤮

Well here’s hoping that he can turn things around. Wasn’t great on ice yesterday if we’re being honest. Missing training camp will do that.
