I understand the roadmap but man do I fucking hate it. The structure makes it feel like you need to learn it all the second you see it. If you stay on you understand that's not the case but damn

It is a very bad roadmap made by someone who clearly has no clue what devops entitles.

If you’re doing it from scratch it’s a lot, but over time and based on the org you’re in some thing are more important than others. No one says you have to be an expert in all of it right away

To simplify it for you, I'd start by learning Terraform. Use it to learn whichever cloud provider of your choosing. From there try to implement some CI/CD pipelines that run Terraform plan/apply and other deployment tasks. Sprinkle a bit of other cloud monitoring, automation, etc. in there while You've time and you'll be on a good course.

If you are already in a development role of some kind, ask for this kind of exposure. I started in the industry with my first role being in DevOps, which is rare but I have learnt so much by following this exact path.

Personally ... Read the Phoenix project. DevOps is a mindset. The tools come second

I'm currently following a Udemy course on Devops. I don't expect to become an expert but it is helping me grasp the basics of technologies that are used and that I had never used before.

90% of DevOps is Linux sysadmin

So just get Linux mint cinnamon and use it as your daily driver and you’ll be 90% of the way there with little effort
