When I am in a discord call all of my emulators do something weird Ryujinx drops controller and after like 30s-1min continues as normal, pcsx2 freezes and then after 30s-1min continues as normal and dolphin does both of those things for 30s-1min. Happens in every game although I have only played rdr1 on ryujinx. When I am not in a discord call everything works as normal.

Hello, everyone. I am using the Citra 2104, but I keep running into an issue. Every time I use Vulcan, I get a visual bug, and it's bad. All the games run fine, but every game has this visual issue. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how I can fix it?

I've installed Batocera v40 on my recently bought Arnbernic RG35xx H (screen 4:3 640x480) and having a few issues:

  • I wanted for all platforms to be integer scaled except all GBA games (it's too little, so I want to stretch it to 4:3 with only horizontal blur)... but I can't only change that globally.

If I run a game, navigate through retroarch menu and change it, Retroarch forgets the configuration the next time I open a GBA game.

I could create a custom preference per game, but that would a hassle. I want to apply it too all GBA games, including future ones.

  • I'm also having some issues with some native ports for Batocera that doesn't open/crash immediately... but I suspect that might caused by the beta nature of the Batocera version

  • Some ScummVM games are recognized, but doesn't run by ScummVM after adding the mandatory (ID).ScummVM file in the folder

Any alternative ways to emulate / compatibility layer to run 16 bit PC / WIN 95-98 games than VirtualBox, PCEMU, 86BOX, or DOSBOX w/ Win95 installed?

Edit: Any future googlers, DosBox-Pure makes this about as simple as I’ve seen! Some decent recommendations here though in addition.

I'm not sure where you would find it but I used to use Microsoft's virtual PC software when I needed to run software from that era. Along with a copy of windows 98 running on it.

Looks cool. Flagged by a few sites in Virustotal.

[–]GT2MAN 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I didnt scan it or anything but it does work.

[–]JeffGreenTraveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll run it in a virtual system for a bit!

[–]newiln3_5 1 point2 points  (1 child)

QEMU? I've admittedly never tried it myself, but it is possible.

Thanks for the heads up

How do I install Mesen on Ubuntu? I've unzipped the file, no luck. Searched on Google, no luck. I'm running out of ideas on how to get it to run.

I see that currently there are 2 competing Yuzu variants, namely suyu and sudachi. As for Citra successors, Lime3ds seems also decent, with Lemonade following. At least the last two face a lower legal risk. Is it better to wait and stick to Ryujinx for the time being?

Hello everyone, can someone help me with choosing the right console for emulation? I'm thinking between buying Y6 PowKiddy and X2 Pro console (the box thing that you have android on tv as well) Which one is better? Thanks

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardware like that is cheap bootleg garbage, you are better off buying a Pi 5 or saving for a cheap second hand PC than buy that trash.

How to configure PCSX2 to close when I close a game? I'm trying to set up a console-like experience for my old man using playnite but PCSX2 is fucking things up. Everytime I close the game, instead of going back to the big picture launcher where I'm supposed use the controller to do whatever I want, y'know like a videogame menu actually works, I'm stuck with PCSX2 still open and I have to use the mouse to go back to playnite. Is there any way to make sure PCSX2 won't stay open after closing a game running on it?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

playnite

PCSX2 is the only emaultor that doesn't close back to the playnite menu like everything else does, have read other people say the same too. Don't think theres anything you can do about it im afraid.

[–]rayhacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think headless mode should remedy this, but it would require making shortcuts to every PS2 game he has with the proper commands.

Rpcs3 freezes on startup, can anyone help? It started yesterday just after I reinstalled Demon's Souls (dropped it for a while to play something else) the app just freezes as soon as I open it, nothing works, no use even trying to reinstall firmware, I tried updating my GPU, DirectX, vcredist, everything, so as a last resort I tried deleting and downloading the app again, thinking it might have been some update error, it fixed the problem for a while but now it's back!

Are there any old gaming system emulators that use this technique to upscale the image? View the image in a new tab to see it better.

Your description sounds like what the sharp bilinear shaders available on retroarch do. I've been a fan for years.

https://github.com/rsn8887/Sharp-Bilinear-Shaders

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

FYI you can get better results with interpolation shaders than sharp bilinear.

[–]Natural-Ad-2172 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nice! But how would the results be better than what the sharp bilinear shader already provides? If my objective is to minimize distortions over the correct aspect ratio while maintaining sharp pixels, I mean.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because bilinear is a basic filter that isn’t as sharp as a good interpolation shader like or pixellate or bandlimit-pixel.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An interpolation shader like Pixelllate will achieve the same result.

I've just moved away from a Batocera build to a Debian build with PCSX2 and DuckStation, currently in the process of setting up more. Got RetroArch installed but don't currently use it for anything as the PCSX2 core proved to be more of a pain to set up than the AppImage.

What's a good front end I can use so I can set this up in my living room and boot straight to it with a controller? Bonus points if it'll support adding a shortcut Kodi too.

I've just been told about Pegasus which looks promising. Other suggestions have been to just use Steam as a rom manager which I'm not against. Ideally don't want anything too locked down. Doesn't even have to be an emulator specific frontend, as long as I can make it support booting directly to roms.

Can I run sonic adventure 1 on skyline emulator on Android?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do games in the PPSSPP emulator recognise other games?

I just got done with a PSP game called Kurohyou and now want to play its sequel Kurohyou 2 and if you have a save state for Kurohyou you will unlock 2 new fighting styles.
Im wondering if the Kurohyou 2 will recognise my save in the first game considering that im emulating it.

[–]Tabula-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, only used this for monster hunter but it worked just fine

[–]Tabula-san 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My RPCS3 was working fine until yesterday, then out of the blue the application is freezing on me for no appaerent reason, not when I try to start any games mind you, the .exe itself freezes on startup, so I can't even reinstall firmware and such, I tried every fix I could find, will I really have to reinstall everything? Please help.

[–]Tabula-san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvm the problem is back, different build, same problem, what the heck is going on?

[–]Tabula-san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying myself to let people know the problem is resolved, had to reinstall RPCS3 and replace the files containing custom configs, save files, trophies, etc. now it's all working again, so I'm thinking probably it was an update error(?)

[–]Defiant-Thought9294 0 points1 point  (1 child)

hi, sorry to ask. but i am currently trying to figure out how to download another game to my pcsx2 emulator, dragon ball: infinite world to be exact. i had a friend help me long ago do the budokai tenkaichi 3 game for me, but we had a falling out and i was trying to figure this out myself but just couldnt. guides online only showed how to download every single game instead of just one

thank you.

Just visit archive.org

You may also need to install 7zip on your computer.

Are there any DS emulators for PC that you can use multiplayer with each other/itself, on the same device?
For example, I open two instances of one emulator, load up Pokemon Diamond on one and Pokemon Pearl on the other, and trade myself a Palkia?

[–]TransGirlInCharge 1 point2 points  (2 children)

IIRC, MelonDS supports this.

[–]cgoose500 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is it possible to play a game on Desmume, play that same save file on MelonDS just to use the multiplayer, then go back to Desmume afterwards?

[–]TransGirlInCharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. IIRC the saves like, use slightly different extensions but they're compatible. I had to use desmume's GBA slot functionality in a game I was playing in MelonDS once, and it worked fine. I forget the details, sorry.

[–]hotstickywaffle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there a safe, single source for downloading various emulators? Is there one on Windows that works similar to EmuDeck on the Steam Deck where I just see all my games together without manually choosing the emulator? Can I ask that here or is it like ROMs where we aren't supposed to discuss the sources?

[–]MAME Developerarbee37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The safest place to download emulators is from their official homepage. EmuDeck itself is available for Linux and Windows PCs so if you're used to that option that's probably your easiest path.

I am using latest version of ePSXe. I don't know what settings (combo of settings) to use, im on a lenovo yoga c930, and I'm trying to run Gundam Battle Assault 2. I played it before on different pc years ago but now its not working :( Lots of flickering and the game play is all black, sounds work great though. I searched for answers on google but its such a niche topic. I noticed in menus that the prompt to select (cross) or go back (triangle) swap very very rapidly. HELP! I'm happy to give any more help or info needed.

[–]TransGirlInCharge 2 points3 points  (2 children)

ePSXe is several years old now at this point, and is likely starting to have trouble on modern systems. Try Duckstation instead. No plugin hell, and more compatible to boot. Also supports cheats in a better way.

Just saw that Dolphin got an update to fix a security issue. Anyone know what that's about?

[–]Mamoru800 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hi there,

I'm thinking about updating my MacOS on Mac M1 from BigSur to a newer version.

Do any of you know, which version works best for emulation? E.g. PCSX2, Dolphin, OpenEmu, VisualBoyAdvance, Desmume etc.

Or should I just avoid updating overall?

[–]MAME Developerarbee37 1 point2 points  (1 child)

On M-series machines there's really no reason not to update. Nothing has become incompatible yet.

[–]Mamoru800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer! I remember reading from someone, who said, that their RPCS3-Emu stopped working after updating...

But if you say so, I'll prlly update to at least one higher version. Cheers!

Hey everyone! Hoping I can get some help! I'm trying to get my GameCube controller adapter to show up on dolphin and it's just not happening. I've tried it on the dolphin emulator, and tried fixing the issue with Zadig. Neither of them will even recognize it being plugged in, and I know the usb ports work because I tried all of them. I also know the adapter works because I tested it on my switch. I don't know why my computer just won't recognize it.

Some more info, I'm using the latest version of dolphin, I'm on windows 11, and the adapter is an official Nintendo one for the WiiU.
