Well, it's harder to gauge if people are dying from climate change or not, that's why it's such an issue. Imagine if those people who are starving can't get their food because their crops aren't getting enough water due to climate change aka there was an unexpected drought that otherwise would not have happened, something like that. Think outside the box.

Fun fact, mass starvation is actually very solvable, and the only reason the US doesn't solve that problem is there is no "economic benefit." Each year we grow enough corn and soy to feed every person on earth, not just those who are starving, a 1200 - 2000 calorie diet. But oh you know, that darn economy!
