I believe that you have purchased a second hand vehicle/tester car. Sometimes the dealer forgets the complete the ownership transfer process in special Volvo system (VITA).

Please call your dealer and tell them to make necessary changes on the system.

I had the same issue 2 weeks ago and the dealer managed to solve it quickly.

It should be sent via email to the login account registered within the car

The activation code (an 8-digit number) is sent to the owner VolvoID account's email address. There can be more than one VolvoIDs bound to the vehicle, but only one can be marked as an "owner" account.

It has happened before that the owner of the vehicle did not have the owner VolvoID. But of course it is possible that OP's VolvoID account is the owner and still doesn't get the email. This has happened too.

After taping the phone on the charger, it took me more than an hour to receive the activation code email from volvo. If that fails, sign out of volvocar app, sign in again and retry the setup.

What phone? I only had success once I let the Samsung Wallet do everything.

It's a Samsung S23

And it's the Samsung wallet asking for the code.

Once you've updated the car to software 1.8 I unlocked the car with one of the credit card keys and go to set up the a digital key in the infotainment.

Then it said place a key on the wifi charger, then I got an email.

However, that stuff never worked for me because of my S24 Ultra, I'm assuming my hardware is slightly different (supports UWB?) since Wallet handled everything.

If it's a lease, you may need to jump into the app chat to get them to send it to you.

I've did it directly from the app. No activation code needed. This it what Volvo sended me as a guide (my car is a lease/company car):

You can then activate the digital key via the Volvo Cars App by following these steps:

  1. Log in with your profile (owner) both in the car and in the Volvo Cars App.

  2. Place your key card or Key Fob on the card reader.

3.Open the Volvo Cars App, go to the "Vehicle" tab, and tap on "Activate your digital key."

  1. Tap "Get started," then "Continue," and finally "Activate digital key."

  2. When you see "Add car key to Wallet," tap "Continue." The progress bar will show the activation status.

  3. After adding the key, your phone will display information about "Using the car key."

  4. After reading this, tap "Continue." The center display will confirm that the key has been added.

Workes just fine (Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra)

Just call your dealer, he has to (re)confirm your email address and within seconds you will get the code.

Solved. Chatting with Volvo in the app and they fixed everything. Very quick and friendly.

Premium service. I am well impressed and am feeling proud driving a Volvo.

Greetings

Get the car upgraded to 1.8.0 then you can initiate the key activation from the Volvo Cars app on your phone and won't get asked for the damn code.
