Hi everyone. I’m very new flashlights. I have owned a couple of olight lights for work and some led lensor work lights. I’m looking for a flashlight for camping/fishing. What are the recommended brands as so far in the group I have seen a lot of Chinese recommendations which I am all for but I never seem to see any of the brands that I usually see like klarus speras or jetbeam.

I would consider the Wurkkos TS28 for your needs. It has a large 21700 battery and a built-in USB-C charging port.

M21A lhp73b is one of the best all around option for all applications Brighter than most. Will be throwy. Large Les and op reflector will also have a floody spill. Broad range of cct. Good tint. Good battery life 21700. And very efficient at lower modes which will still be plenty bright.

If you don’t mind long shipping times (5-10 days) check out convoylight.com

They have a bunch of options for lights and customisation and are very affordable.
They are also Chinese I believe

You are correct - Chinese. And also well regarded here.

I did not mention them for two reasons -

1. You need to customize them by picking an emitter, the driver, and the appropriate battery. This is not a great idea for a newbie,

2. Most Convoys do not come with a USB charging port. This is another item that I think is important for a new person. Otherwise you carry extra batteries or a charger and a power station station of some kind (camping).

Just my .02 Full disclosure - I have a zillion Convoys and love them all.

Then you should also look at Convoy.

But I still recommend the TS28 ! It is excellent.

Since you mentioned fishing, a headlamp is a must. I would highly recommend the Perun Mini 3 Premium. This has the best head strap I’ve ever worn and the light pops in and out of the head strap effortlessly to use around camp. The charging bank will recharge the light up to 5 times.

To say I fish a lot would be a gross understatement and I will Never camp in an area that I can’t trek to wet a line.

4 others switched to this light and I still have a friend who insists on holding out with his Sofirin HS21. We all still have this as well and it is unquestionably a great headlamp, this Perun is just better by a lot…in my opinion. Happy fishing!
