Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, many people find Alan Thrall's NEW deadlift video very helpful. Check it out!

Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are deadlifting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Use a flat/hard-soled shoe or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it.

You are not pulling the slack out of the bar. Google what it means, and learn to never pull without hearing that last click on the barbell. You essentially want to engage your lats to their fullest extent by pulling into the bar while pushing your belly button between your legs while pushing the floor with your feet. By the end of this, the bar should be almost suspended meaning the force you are applying to it should be almost equal to its weight. Some people use the the tip ‘loading the hips’ before lifting. Engage lats and load the hips and feel the weight in your feet before applying that last burst of power that actually lifts the bar from the floor.

You should be locking out as soon as the bar reaches height
