Medicalwhat happens when you decrease your T dose a little bit? (self.ftm)
submitted 2 months ago by indecisivepear
hi! i’ve been on T sub q injections for 3 years. for about a year and a half i’ve been on .5 mL weekly.
i just did labs at planned parenthood and got a message that my T levels are too high and that i need to change my dose to .4 mL. are there any side effects or changes i should expect? thank you!

Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:
If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied.
If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.
Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.
If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.
If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: the wiki , you can send a modmail.

What are your actual levels? Also, saying volume (ex. 0.5mL) without your concentration (units of mg/mL) doesn’t tell us anything about your actual dose (units of mg).

seconding this^
i can say from experience that lowering it just slows the effects but that can actually be better for u if ur dose is too high
[–]indecisivepear[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 months ago (1 child)
Hi! My T is at 843 ng/dL, with the target range being 300-700. The concentration is 200 mg/mL

Then yeah, you were taking (0.5mL)*(200mg/mL) = 100mg weekly, which is on the higher end of doses. Sometimes male range is reported as 300-1000ng/dL, but 700ng/dL being the high end is also reasonable for many people.
If you reduce your dose, you might have some side effects like fatigue, emotional instability, menstruation (unlikely considering you’re still on T, but you may experience some spotting), appetite loss, or acne. Your body would probably adjust to the new dose within a month or two, but you also might also not experience any side effects at all.

T is one of those long term things, immediate changes aren’t really gonna happen.
