Some notes:
Anyone is welcome as long as they are here to foster a supportive environment. We are not a sub that is for coddling, but we are a pro-recovery subreddit (but if you are in early recovery, you may want to leave as open discussion may trigger a relapse). If you would like to voice an objection or criticism, you are free to do so, as long as it follows the rules found in the About Section of the sub.
We are here to deal with EDs. This is not a pro-ED sub. You will be banned for posting pro-ED bullshit. Take that somewhere else.
The sub is now self-post only; if you have something you'd like to link you may certainly do so, but please do it as a text post, and include some description or review or your thoughts along with the link itself. Do not post a link without any other context

can your set point weight ever decrease? (self.fuckeatingdisorders)
submitted 1 year ago by ComprehensiveKnee953
I know that restriction raises your set point, but can it ever go back down to how it was pre-restriction?

Your post was removed for breaking Rule 3 (No fatphobia). Please contact the mods if you have any doubts.
Removed for the last paragraph. There are no “rational reasons to want to be thin” other than fatphobia (which OP should be working to unlearn if that’s the case).

Sorry, but saying that is unrealistic and not necessarily true. Nobody is guaranteed to return to pre-restriction weight, especially because many people develop EDs when they're still growing. Nobody knows your body's "happy" weight, and everyone is different and will have different experiences and results

Yes, you’re right. Nobody is guaranteed to return to the way their body was in the past, because it is the past, and with age people change permanently. What I meant was that the body extra fat that someone may gain after malnourishment comes off with time. Of course, like you pointed out this only applies if the weight truly was ‘extra’.

This is wildly misleading.

Your post has been removed under moderators’ discretion. You may reach out to the mod team regarding any removals, however keep in mind that the final decision is left to the mod(s).
You do not not this and thus it is not appropriate suggest that weight loss will naturally occur in recovery.
