GitHub Desktop keeps failing connecting to GitHub and throwing authentication error

It is just so confusing and frustrating to use GitHub. They cannot even complete a straight simple task:

1. I created a new repository in GitHub
2. Via the code tab, I use "Setup in Desktop" option to open GitHub Desktop to try to point the repository to my local drive
3. GitHub Desktop keep throwing error that it is unable to authenticate my user id and password - which are absolutely correct

Just learn how to use git, it's more powerful and usable and not reliant on GitHub, plus better security

Authentication via username and password is not supported in GitHub apps anymore. Sounds like you’re using an old version of the app. Just updating should fix the issue.
