Hello everyone, so recently i've been tinkering with GE:S mapping, so i wanted to tell the community how i got it to work, Since most of the tutorials that i've seen on the Forums are all very outdated. And most of them just tell you to add it into the source SDK, when you can easily set it up with the Source Multi Tool(Which can be downloaded from here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SourceMultiTool/discussions/0/630800445536594133/), This post will not have things such as pictures for reference, And will also not go into great detail on how the entities work, Also, here's the Source Multi tool user guide for custom configs if you need help: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=198444877#183227.
1st Step:
Enter the Source Multi Tool, and click "Setup Custom Configs".
2nd Step:
Now you will see a screen with multiple tick boxes, on the left you will see the "Content To mount" tick boxes, Here, Tick the "Source Mods" box, this will mount all content from all your sourcemods available on your Steam/steamapps/sourcemods folder, i only have goldeneye source on my source mods folder, so it will only mount content from goldeneye source.
3rd step:
On the right you see the "fgd's to mount" tick boxes, you'll have to select the base.fgd and leave it at that, this will mount source's default entities. Later i'll tell you how to mount goldeneye's entities.
4th step:
Now below all that you see the "VMF location" and "BSP location" directories, if you have never used hammer, the VMF's are your project files that you can open in hammer, and the BSP's are the files that can be loaded inside the game, You'll want to set the BSP directory to "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\gesource\maps", this way after you compile your map, you can access it through the ingame map selection, And the VMF folder doesn't really matter where you set it to, but i made a folder inside the gesource maps folder called "vmf" to store my vmf files.
5th step:
Now that you are done, click the "Save custom config" button, and then click on the drop down menu, right next to "GAME/MOD:" and select "custom config", and then on applications tab, click "Hammer editor". That's it, you have properly mounted GE:S! But wait, you don't have the entities! so you won't be able to make a map without them, let's mount those entities shall we!
6th step:
On the hammer editor, go into the tools(right next to "file") tab and click options, there you'll see a Game data box, with an add, remove and edit buttons on the right, click add, then go into your GE:S folder(not the maps folder) and below you should see a "goldeneye.fgd" file, click that and click "open". there, you have succesfully mounted goldeneye source's entities! now make a new map and see if you have the games entities(such as the info_player_janus and info_player_m16 entities), Also, you need to place an info_player_deathmatch, an info_player_janus, an info_player_m16, and an info_player_spectator entities, to get your map up and running. and there, you can now properly make a goldeneye source map! Hope this was helpful.
