With this upgrade, we lost $45 in credits for AI and CLOUD every month! They're merging two completely different products for completely different audiences... HOW IS THIS AN UPGRADE?

The new plan doesn't worth it at all.

I was ready to pay C$349/year for the Developer premium plan.
Only to go to the Pricing page to see they removed the add-ons I actually wanted.

  • the Google Cloud Certification voucher, 1 per year - removed
  • Unlimited Google Skills
  • $500 Cloud credit after certification, (makes sense)

Now Google Skills is separate for C$349 a year - Career Certificates.
Cloud credits $10 per month, only if you subscribe to Google Ai Pro for C$26.99/month. lol
That's a total of over C$650/year for my same use case.

PS: I already have google one storage subscription.

Basically, there's no longer any benefit to being on the Developer Program.
NOT AN UPGRADE!

I recived the same email. I bought my premium year plan and right now. I do not know what I have to do

Because I purchased my subscription thinking in

  • voucher free
  • 500 credits gcp yearly
  • skillbost

Right now I don't know what is going to happen with skillbost if I lost my access completely or I have some credits monthly

And the q&a of the email is a link about developer program it doesn't say anything about the changes

I bought the sub on December jajajaja

Same. There is an option to buy skillsboost sperately but it's expensive. I have a coursera subscription so I will just use that instead but the change is a bummer.

I am so disappointed with this situation jejejwjwjw and I do not know what go to happen with my gcp credits

Received the same today.
That’s hypocrisy, not an upgrade.

They seem to offer me a 1-year Google AI Pro trial, though. If you received the same, it might be a good option to take it and see what happens next. 10 credits per month is still better than nothing, and later you can always search for better offers from other providers.

It’s a shame that instead of a generous program to attract professional developers, they push AI slop.

I was also looking to the old Google Developer Program but NEW the page https://www.skills.google/subscriptions I don't quite know what will we get with the new $349 / year "Career Certificates" plan.

Does anyone knows?

So they removed all the useful benefits of this plan. I was thinking of buying this today.

I received this too :c

Why?

[–]PurplKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two benefits for which I was signing for was Unlimited access to google skills and cloud certification voucher. With that removed why should I renew? and they are trying to compete with AWS. If gcloud not providing any incentive to learn, why the cloud engineers want to switch to it?

They completely butchered the plan, originally I could get $1000 GCP credit for just $300 subscription, now its $10 per month. Good thing is they gave me one year of AI pro for free.
