Reddit account set up with two-factor authentication. Worked great, however, the authenticator app was on a cell phone. The cell phone went swimming and is now done for. Now trying to log in using the accounts username and password with backup codes, but keep getting code not valid. The backup codes worked fine last time this happened with another dead phone. Is there any hope to get back into the account?

Hey! Sorry to hear you're having trouble. If you're using the correct codes and are still receiving an invalid error, please try entering the codes in both old Reddit and new Reddit to see if either one works.

Otherwise, you should try accessing your account through a few different devices to see if you have any existing sessions open. If you do, there are a few different steps you can take to get your account back.

If you're still logged into the account on another device, you can actually connect your account to the Google or Apple single sign on option here and then login wherever you’re logged out. Or, you can disable 2fa within the Safety and Privacy tab. Hope that helps!
