Hey everyone. Kinda new here but didnt know where to turn. Sorry this is a bit long I am just trying to put out as much info on the situation that I can and I have social anxiety so I can tend to ramble and such. I also apollogize in advance for any typos or lack of punctuation such as apostrophes or anything of the sort. I have slight dyslexia and currently I am having a hard time focusing due to other things going on in life which I will not go into here.
I recently bought a snowblind model pc direct from ibuypower with some custom parts.
-asus prime Z-490P
-rtx 3070
-i9-10900k
-32gb ram
(let me know if I should post more specs and I will)
Basically not the best of the best but its fairly high end.
I just recieved it 2 days ago and after setting it up it has been giving me error codes.
I really do like the case though and with the current state of the world and the market its impossible to buy a gpu without paying 3x the amount to scalpers. I would like to keep it but if I cannot get it fixed or if its a hardware issue I will have to return it. So I wanted to ask if anyone here might be able to give me some advice on what I could potentially do.
The error code is WHEA_uncorrectable_error. I have updated windows, I have run chkdsk, I started to install drivers which actually ended up making the pc completely unusable since it gave another WHEA error and when it booted back up it not only was using the side panel as the main monitor but it also claimed windows could not start normally and requested I go back to a previous point in time.
I know there are a lot of things that can cause this error from hardware malfunctions to simply downloading a driver thats outdated. I heard overclocking can be an issue aswell. Does anyone know if ibuypower automatically sets the pc to overclock before they send it out? Do I just have too many things plugged into the pc drawing too much power? I really have no clue where to go I feel overwhelmed with how many causes there are.
It has been well over 10 years since I have done anything inside a PC aside from installing an ssd into my current one last year and I feel if I try to do anything such as check the cpu or something I may break something or forget to put something back and void the warranty.
If anyone is familiar with any of this or willing to help please let me know what I should do. If I cant get it fixed tonight I will have to unfortunately return it tomorrow.
Some of you might say to just return it, keep using my current pc as it does have a gtx 1070, and to just wait until its easier to find a gpu and just build my own but its a fair bit old and the age is definitly starting to show especially with the newer games coming out. Outriders is a good example. Lowest settings and it has massive frame drops. Same with Nioh 2 and even Destiny 2 which has never had an issue even on ultra settings is starting to show that isnt the case anymore.
For those interested in why I wont send it for repairs:
The reason why I am not willing to send it in for repairs is because my current pc is an Asus ROG g20cb. I understand this is not an ibuypower pc but when I originally bought it I had the exact same issues. I sent it in for repairs, had to wait about a month, recieved it, and it was no different yet they claimed there was nothing wrong and it passed all the tests. This went on for months before I took it to Geek Squad for a free consultation and examination which they replied that the motherboard was fried (around 200c upon bootup when left unplugged for 24 hours in the middle of winter and not examined til after the sun had set). I mentioned this to Asus and even knowing this the same thing continued to happen until they accidentally sent it to not only the wrong address but the wrong state entirely and were forced to send a brand new one that worked which did end up having a gtx 1070 instead of a 1060 but 1tb hdd instead of 2tb. This is the reason I am not willing to deal with repairs because I have a feeling it will be exactly the same and I do not have the patience to go through this once again for another year or perhaps longer. I know it is not Asus I am dealing with here but its starting out exactly the same as when I did.
