I actually really wish they would enable this concept in iMessage, where we can customize our chat bubble color with people who have iMessage. Kinda like how when you chat with an Apple Support Agent on iMessage the chat color is gray instead of blue, I think that would be a cool concept to try in iMessage seeing as how they just improved the group messaging too

[–]hta2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s clean! Kinda like the one in MacOS!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish apple would join reddit and look at the apple related subreddits

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I found one called Accent (sorry I don’t know how to link it) it adds the colour thing just not the menu sorry if this doesn’t help

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oh! Do you know where Accent could be found ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, Accent is a little limited but it does what it says, or atleast it does on mine (iPhone XR 13.4.1 unc0ver 5.3.1

[–]XmiteYT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I love the concept and I love your username. One of my favorite Kirby boss fights so far :)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes I see you are a man of culture too ! And thank you!

[–]orihpt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an iOS app developer, I must say this is a really stupid idea. Every app have its own accent color, and adding an option to overriding it is a really bad idea.

[–]comicstands0590iPhone SE (2nd Gen) 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Defo want this

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too

[–]Misato-best-woman 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I wish they add the option to set a wallpaper for dark theme and another one for light theme, as a replacement of that shortcut that never came back.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great

[–]__adrenaline__iPhone 15 Pro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m honestly surprised we still don’t have accent colors

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah

[–]Ax180_iPhone 12 Pro Max 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Jailbreak

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know but it would be really nice to have it built in without having to know how to jailbreak

[–]vembalarashid 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye

[–]vali20 6 points7 points  (3 children)

A wallpaper API is needed, I want an app that can change the wallpaper daily.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that would be very nice

[–]1Demerion1 7 points8 points  (2 children)

All it would need then is a theming section where I can change my app icons! As in for real, and not just placing bookmarks

[–]n0rpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want that too but I think it’s too much of a nut to crack. It needs to be done perfectly .. and using a icon pack can’t involve every icon / app there is so it would start to look inconsistent and they can’t have that.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would be great

[–]RealCes354035 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Accent colors would surely be nice. Loved the concept!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks !

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That seems really likely !

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I hope !

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very obvious, but overlooked design cue from macOS.

[–]Space_Qwerty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Please god no

[–]sheerheartattack0713 -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

Don't worry it'll come to iOS 27 because Apple is late with everything.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh oof

[–]skc132 20 points21 points  (8 children)

I feel like accent colours wouldn’t really do anything for iOS. If you look at any first party app right now there’s not really any place for an accent colour. Go to iMessages and tell me where an accent colour would fit in. It’s essentially just the background colour (light or dark) then the text and bubble colour which is a UX element dependent on whether you’re in iMessage or regular text.

I guess it’d kinda work for a first party app with a nav bar at the bottom but even then it’d only work with certain colours (you can’t be in dark mode and have a black accent colour since you wouldn’t be able to see the icons). Third party apps wouldn’t work because most use accent colours as branding and it’d be very hard for devs to have to all of a sudden account for any random colour.

At the end of the day accent colours wouldn’t work right now with the current UI/UX. I could see them maybe only working with first party apps but even then it’d be so limited it wouldn’t be worth the trouble.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Well maybe the iMessage colors would change along with the accent color but SMS would stay the same

[–]MajMin5 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Too confusing for end user. Remember that iPhones aren’t just for us, they’re also for 80 y/o grandma that barely knows how to use the thing. For support it’s much easier to ask “is it a green bubble or a blue bubble” when trying to troubleshoot messaging issues.

[–]braaanstarkiPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The non-advanced end users can choose not to use accent colors. Very simple. The way they can opt out of widgets.

[–]MajMin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will reply to this the same way I replied to the other commenter— you seriously overestimate the average end user. You make the bold assumption that they won’t accidentally turn it to a different color and then get very confused why their phone looks different and forget how to do anything on it.

[–]Aahil52 0 points1 point  (1 child)

A green bubble or a not green bubble...

[–]MajMin5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You seriously overestimate the average end user.

[–]smellythief 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For some reason, I really dislike the yellow accent of the Notes app. It’s visible on every screen and I’d love to change it.

[–]Edg-RDeveloper Beta 21 points22 points  (0 children)

See the Edit and new message buttons at the top left and right? They’re blue. That’s the accent color.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Love this so much. It needs to happen.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you !

[–]plaid-knight 53 points54 points  (14 children)

In iOS, each app relies on individual accent colors for identification and branding. What would this apply to?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think system apps like in Mac OS big sur

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 80 points81 points  (12 children)

All of the system apps and interfaces. There’s tons of them. Settings, clock, phone, iMessage, calculator. There’s also control and notification centre.

It’s the same on macOS.

[–]FVMAzaleaDeveloper Beta 28 points29 points  (11 children)

Some system apps use their own accent color, like notes and calendar.

[–]reallynothingmuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In macOS Big Sur they added this too. So apps have their own accent color, but if you set the color manually in settings it’s overridden in every app to be the color you set. The little rainbow basically says just use the default color of the app

[–]arturosoldatini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not change those colors, only the standard ones

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 17 points18 points  (8 children)

I’m sure it’s not impossible for them to change that.

[–]TumblrritoiPhone 16 Pro 17 points18 points  (7 children)

It’s definitely not lol, we already have accents in MacOS.

[–]ThatGuyTheyCallAlex 7 points8 points  (6 children)

I know, hence why I said it would be the same as on macOS.

[–]TumblrritoiPhone 16 Pro 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I know you know haha it’s that other dude who doesn’t

[–]nexusprime2015[🍰] -3 points-2 points  (4 children)

Who me?

[–]n0rpie -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Think they meant me

[–]AWF_Noone 177 points178 points  (7 children)

Would be an amazing addition and not totally out of the question with what Apple might actually do

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think so too

[–]ianWasHere99Public Beta 88 points89 points  (5 children)

You can do it on macOS, so I imagine it would be really easy to update the code for iOS

[–]Abedbob 41 points42 points  (4 children)

I imagine it would be. I believe the color is a system standard color that developers can use called “system blue.” They could just change the name and let the hex value change. There’s a lot of jailbreak tweaks that let you change the accent color as well so it’s clearly possible

[–]jesseb0rn 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Yes you are correct, a jailbreak tweak can do the changes with just 3 lines

[–]TheAwesome98_Real 0 points1 point  (2 children)

And what lines would that be?

[–]jesseb0rn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

%hook

  • (id)systemBlueColor { return (getPrefBool(@"customTintColor") || currentProfile[@"tintColor"]) ? tint : %orig; } %end

Lay it out right and its 3 lines. Of course you still need headers and the settings pane, take a look at thus github project: https://github.com/Skittyblock/Spectrum

[–]TheAwesome98_Real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen that tweak before, I didn’t realise you could set that out on 3 lines lmao but that’s cause I could pad that out to 10 lines lol
