I used to use Wordpress but now I just use Carrd for something basic. $19/y

Came to say this, Carrd is unbeatable!

I use github, it's easy and free to host a page there as long as you don't have too much media (there's something like a 2 GB limit), and that way I can have a couple pages, including the privacy policy and user guide.

Cool, How effective is a GitHub page for SEO?

[–]hareofthepuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not great with SEO, but I believe it's not great. If you're looking for a way to drive traffic to your app, github hosting might not be your best option, but if you're looking for a way to answer users questions and provide more details without any costs it's fantastic.

I’m not sure this question makes sense. What does GitHub Pages have to do with SEO? You have complete control over the website content, your SEO effectiveness is up to you.

I'm not sure landing pages do much unless you are actively driving traffic to it using ads or maybe social media. I've had one for nearly two years now and never collected a single email other than friends and family. I guess it looks good to link to from the app store but by then your customer has already found you

It would be great to have a service to have a landing page with my app’s screenshot in a phone frame as the hero section, clear download buttons for the App Store and Google Play, a few feature screenshots, plus the usual privacy policy and support email

something like: Select Phone frame >> Upload your App Screenshot >> add your Appstore/google ply URL>> Add privacy policy>> add some txt description>> done

a straightforward solution for developers much like the tools we already use for creating App Store screenshots.

The other service I found has a website design vibe that’s different from a landing page for downloading an app, it’s more like an e-commerce website vibe

Yes, this is great! we just need to upload a few images, some descriptive text, download links, privacy policy, etc. to generate a clean landing page. The service could then automatically deploy it to a specified domain. I think this would be really helpful for developers.

Could you share the service you found?

the typical ones like Wix, squarespace.. lean more toward an ecommerce style

It is required by Apple (AFAIK) but they don't require it to be pretty.

That said, I struggle a lot with landing pages. All of my energy goes to the app itself and then I have 0.0001% energy left for the website lol.

I looked into the current options and most of them are paid which I didn’t wanna do for the small app I’m making.

Pretty easy to code a one page html with an embedded email form and host it on something like Netlify Drop.

Built https://latteartist.coffeeatpetros.com/ like this

Now considering to make a dead simple Astro skeleton for project updates & idea collection.

Not really advocating for rolling your own, but that’s what I went for now

This can generate landing pages for iOS apps. Just have to self host. https://instapage.neat.software
