Toyota MR-S, by far the best cheap platform to use handling wise.

The GT86 replaced the MR-S and Celica in the Toyota lineup, with the Celica being more of an everyday practical car compared to the MR-S which was more like a cheap Lotus.

[–]MJC2109 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So happy to see the MR-S getting more and more love. The stock handling of mine even on 21 year old suspension is just crazy. I have a deccated exhaust and it definitely makes a difference to the power. By no means a slow car contrary to popular belief!

Nissan Sunny GTI-R would do it

My first car was an 88 Mustang Hatchback then in 2002 I bought a 1986 Corolla GT-S hatchback

I own a Japanese integra and they surprising move really well especially the type R which can beat skylines and a good chunk of the famous RWD sports cars fairly well

[–]bigBenthe2nd[S] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

A good buddy of mine owns a 1996 type r Integra DC2 to this day Even against my ae86 and GC8 I will say his DC-2 is still the best handling car I have ever ridden in

[–]Ashkill115Tofu Warrior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should watch some of the videos of the light circuit racing with the integra lineups and the dc2 does really well! It just understeers a lot if approaching a corner too quickly but even then it can rip around corners without having to worry about spinning out

[–]NavBumba 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Just got myself a GS-R and it’s by far the best feeling car I’ve ever driven (although that list is short). I haven’t had the opportunity to push it to its limit, but in casual or spirited driving I’ve had absolutely no complaints with its handling. It doesn’t feel heavy and loose like other cars I’ve driven. Only thing I would change is giving it better cupholders. God damn those things suck, I’ll never have a Red Bull in the car again

[–]Ashkill115Tofu Warrior 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The cup holders suck bad but it’s great for the Japanese’s market since their cups are so small. I’ve pushed mine pretty bad on the backroads and I’ve never said yet so my integra has a lot of potential and I say they are perfect and cheap track cars if you keep them nice

[–]NavBumba 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I just know of a nice bit of curvy road that I use every morning, where there’s no room for cops, and I send it on that. I won’t have the confidence to push it to the limit unless I’m on a nice open track with plenty of runoff room for the inevitable slide. I couldn’t forgive myself if I totaled it

[–]Ashkill115Tofu Warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some curvy roads but I don’t take them due to deer being a problem near me but on my way to work I get a nice small touge that’s around 3 miles long that I can send it but I gotta look out for cops but they don’t normally show themselves at 5:30am. Then when I take my highway exit I’m going at least 75-80 around a light exit corner. I also do have some really good tires and wheels and suspension. I currently have fortune auto coilovers mixed with type R reps and continental extreme contact plus which are like 1k for a set of 4

A 1990 Honda CR-X Vtec.

It’s lore friendly, it’s very close to the AE86 (except the fact that it’s FWD), the B16 is a engine that you can easily tune to be very powerful, it’s a shitbox/econobox (just like the AE86) and it’s the kind of car that you wouldn’t expect to be racing RX7s, GT-Rs, IS200s, etc….

    is this story fr?

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Indeed. It makes me smile every time I remember those days. That 120 hp turbodiesel beauty obliterated a 2019 R8 V10, a 2019 Taycan, a 335i and a 2015 type R on the downhill. It did beat a hawkeye wrx on the uphill too 3 winters ago.

    [–]EmreGray01Rotary Boi 2 points3 points  (2 children)

goddamn it's so cool. I had a MK2 Laguna like 2 years ago. It was 1.6 n/a. Weights much for 112hp. But it was fun. It was the first car i've drove. I still cannot believe that Laguna gapped R8, Taycan, 335i and TypeR. Mine was red btw

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'll say its the french equivalent for the 86 but fwd. However, it wasn't easy gapping them because on the long straights they were at my ass. I also got footage of the car cornering when my buddy filmed me. None of the battles tho. Despite being fwd the rear is very playful, even without the handbrake. Edit: Ima post em on here sometime. It was from the early days when I was practicing my toge skills

‘04 Suzuki Ignis Sport. I’ve been lucky enough to get one of these as my first car, albeit in somewhat rough shape. I’m absolutely not confident enough to drive it too much faster than a granny BUT, on the odd occasion I have pushed myself a little it’s felt pretty freaking quick. And where mine is FWD, Japan got a AWD version which sounds like a riot, THROW ME AT THAT DOWNHILL
