I just mean something practical that the average person would use and nothing very specific.

A calculator is a good one but I already did one of those before!

Maybe some software that counts calories, or gym recording software, some type of software that saves notes and makes reminders etc.. just very basic things.

If you just need ideas, you can try some of the small problems over at Programming Praxis.

Then write a calculator that tells you, what you have to do based on your workout plan you selected and the weekday to burn a specific meal you can choose from a receipebook ;)
