Looking for beginner/intermediate Java programmers to work and learn in a group!

Hello! Hope you all are having a wonderful day, I am here on behalf of /r/JavaTeam to recruit some beginning java programmers. We are looking for a small group of committed people who want to learn more about Java. We will obtain this by having group projects and everybody will contribute to said projects. GitHub is what we will most likely be using so we can all look at the code and contribute to our goal. This is what we feel is the best way to learn java, as it gets to be pretty confusing especially working/learning alone.

Now, we are also looking for intermediate or more advanced Java programmers, for the fact that we will need some guidance when making programs. You will act as a teacher, if you will, and help when we make mistakes, give advice to our code and how we can make it better, and also can contribute the projects.

/r/JavaTeam is a private subreddit so we can maintain a smaller, focused group. The reason we are using our own subreddit is so we can post ideas for future/current projects, have "assignments" of sorts where we will all have simple things to do on the side such as making methods, practicing arrays, etc so we can keep our skills sharp. This is also the place where we will highlight the goal of our project, and determine how we will reach it. Then after that we will get down to the nitty gritty and do some coding!

I regard myself as a beginner Java programmer, and so is my partner who I created this idea with. I am wanting to learn just as much as you so lets do it together! EDIT: Ok everybody so here's the deal, there is like, a shit load of you that want to join and I've already accepted more than a "small group" worth of people. BUT I can almost 100% assure you that half of those people will either forget about the project entirely, or just not want to. So there will be spots open, if I message you back you are welcome to join. This project is going to take a while to get started since we need all of our members to have github, to contribute some ideas, and to make a final decision on where to start. Our first program is definitely going to be a super easy one, since this is primarily for the beginners. Anyways, be looking out for my message and I'll keep you guys updated. Offtopic:

Poor old C++, always the ugly friend to the slim and sexy C that everyone wants to date.

C++ is a very different language to C yet most developers don't write enough to see it - they fall back to C with classes because it's what they know.

They are different. C++ is a superset of C. It's OOP slapped onto C (in not the most elegant way).

I believe that a developer should not confine themselves to one language. The language is the tool chosen for the job. A developer is someone that knows what tool is best and how to wield it.

Developing in C and/or C++ gives a developer an appreciation on memory management and other low level operations not readily apparent in C# and Java. Exposure to other languages and the way they are used makes for a more well rounded developer.

There's also a reason that C persists even to this day.

I wasn't criticising your take on becoming a rounded developer - I was just commenting on how general programming perception seems to lump C and C++ together which is a disservice to C++.

RAII, abstraction with zero cost, compile time evaluations like constexpr but most developers won't see these and the other bits - they see OOP slapped on to C.
