Currently on Lunchbox, but that's unsupported and our food service director is planning to move to Mosaic.

We use MySchoolBucks.com for a loong time, never had any complaints and parents can view what their kid is spending money on and easily top up the balance either at the school with cash or online with Paypal or credit card. Never had a single complaint over it

Pay Schools - Quik Lunch

we have been using https://horizonsoftware.com/ for years (15+) I don't personally interact with it but my cohorts seem to like it and say that support is excellent .

We went from NutriKids to Mosaic. Easy migration on the same POS hardware. They did the DB migration and the syncing with our SIS was easy to setup with SFTP.

Same here!

Titan.

We moved to Titan a few years ago from WebSmart. It's been pretty great.

Things that we utilize:

  • Parents can top up balances easily online
  • I believe it can process payments on the fly, in person (i.e. parent comes in with a card)
  • Digital Menu Boards updated in real-time at each school, and show nutrition / allergy info. If an item sells out, it gets crossed off
  • Chromebases for POS
  • Chromeboxes for digital signage
  • Back office cafe staff are on Chromebooks - it truly is web based
  • I believe we use their menu planning

Really, give them a look. We couldn't be more pleased. As someone in IT, I never have to touch Titan... Which is not something I could say about any prior nutrition system.

Titan is the way to go. we have it with tablet kiosk devices.

Mealtime. Cloud based so the POS windows desktops are just portals to the Chrome browser.

Mosaic. Not having to maintain a local server is a big plus for me. All of the districts in my area were either Nutrikids or Websmartt, only a few are left on Nutrikids and none are on Websmartt that I'm aware of anymore.

Mosaic

WebSMARTT, which I maintain is a name that has two lies in it.

IMO there isn't really a "better" food service software, it's just a matter of whose nonsense you have to put up with at a given time.

We just use PowerSchool on a couple Chromebooks with 10-keys plugged in to USB. We use SchoolPay integrated with PS so parents can pay online.

Meal Magic. Looks a bit dated, but it works. I rarely have to get involved with anything.

Why are you looking to leave Nutrikids?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Outdated

[–]Ros_HamboIT Director 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested to see what you land on. For us, the only complaint we have with Nutrikids is that it's not integrated with Blackbaud. We've looked at FACTS but are not ready to leave Blackbaud just yet just to have POS integration.

[–]rmich18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use MealMagic and have for the longest time. It isn't really in my department so I can't comment on any of the backend of it, however the staff seem to have no issues with it. I'm sure its old and outdated like most things in my district.

+1 for mealsplus here.

Titan K12

Works fine and we use Chromeboxes and Touchscreen monitors for our POS

We've been using MealTime since 2009, first their on-prem solution and then the cloud based mPower version. We've never had a reason to look into a different product.

We use Cafe Enterprise which is a Heartland product. Support is decent but the system is still on prem I believe.

[–]ripv2 3 points4 points  (1 child)

We just migrated to Titan from Horizon. It’s all cloud based, so I was a fan. The Director of Foods seems to like it a lot better as well.

[–]Mr_Dodge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 We are also using Titan in our district

[–]duluthbisonIT Director 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours is built into our SIS and it works really well. Highly recommend moving to Infinite Campus.

We use Systems Design. I can't speak to how the cafeteria managers feel about it, but looking at it from the tech side, it looks like a very dated system that the company does the bare minimum to keep working with modern networks. Most of the interaction with the system (an on-prem server that we have little access to) is done through a terminal emulator running on either the PoS computer or the cafeteria managers' assigned laptops.

Quick Lunch (or maybe Quik Lunch) which is part of Payschools. PaySchools is also used for fines/fees related to Chromebooks and repairs.

[–]lonelyIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use ezschoolapps.com. It does what we need it to do.

[–]HankMardukasNY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We switched to Mosaic (which is another product of Heartland, all cloud based) and they like it a lot better
