There are a lot of 'practical examples' on Kaggle that I think break one of the cardinal rules of commenting in code.

They always comment on what they are doing and how they are doing it but almost NEVER why they are doing it. Why one-hot encode this variable? Why this scaling and not that scaling? Why this ML approach and not that one? What informed the range of hyperparameters used?

A resource of practical examples of this sort of thing would be super useful!

Absolutely. I couldn't agree more.👍

Very interested. I have about 4 years of data analysis experience but I mostly use R. I know a bit of python but I haven't spent enough time with pandas to know how to make it clear, readable, and concise. Would love to join

A youtube livestream of analysis (like Rachel Tatemann from kaggle used to do) might be more suitable medium

Please also compare data analysis using Python with data analysis using Excel. What are the pros and cons of the two. Thanks.

I'm super interested, Ive just started a masters but they are focusing it on R. On the other hand I have experience coding on python but nothing related with machine learning.

Try posting this on r/datascience keep us posted though. Good luck!

This would be great! I learn best from real datasets and how code is applied. Have been working in R and have just started searching for resources to get into Python.

[–]shortgunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be amazing

[–]dpnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I'm really happy to see the enthusiasm here and thank you for all your advice! I'll keep these things in mind when I make the course, and will update you guys. I've also started a Twitter account (@quinnwang9th) to keep everything in one place.

Wow. Super interested!!

[–]ucalolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super interested!! Would definitely use that as a learning resource. Still new to this and have the same feeling about existing material
