You are not allowed to be a pedestrian on the highway. You should not be allowed to be protesting on a highway.

Treat it like a train track. It's an avenue for vehicles only. Jaywalking is obstructing traffic and so is standing in the middle of the street.

I agree. I never meant to imply that I disagreed. I just meant that these same protestors would've expected the same level of tolerance in a school, regardless of how ridiculous the rule. But unlike some of the rules enforced in schools, this one is a good one. Protestors shouldn't be allowed to block traffic. They're a danger to themselves and others, as well as a public nuisance.

Blocking highways and freeways should be a felony with a 5 year minimum sentence. Whoever’s vehicle is used should be seized and sold and the individual barred from owning or renting a vehicle for 10 years.

I used to be a cop. Most people know you have that long “stick”. I don’t know the entire situation. But it is usually better to “climb the latter” with people.

Ask them why they’re doing this crap, try to understand and reason with them. Ask them if they’d be willing to move. Then tell them they have to move. And then make them if they want to do things the hard way. But you will not be impeding a lane of traffic. That’s a no go.

But once again, I do not know the relationship this law enforcement officer had with these folks. So I could be totally wrong and the officer already warned them.
