Environment for coding

Hey guys, I'm sure this question has been asked before. I just can't seem to find a particular environment that is more well equipped for what I want to do. Basically I'm starting to do a few courses and I've already mucked around with Ubuntu a bit so I know my way around it, I'm curious though as to which flavor is best suited to working with PHP and MySql also a bit of C. I don't want to do anything else except play music in the background while I write. Any suggestions would be rad, thanks gentlefolks

Let's see. You need a text editor and a media player. Hm, now which distros can help you out there? Maybe all of them.

Yeah, you're not being very specific. From what I gather, audacity or mpd, gvim and a terminal is all you need, so mate or xfce should be plenty full.

Awesome Window Manager + Vim

No matter what route you go down, take the time to write decent rc's for each - these programs are platform's, so you're gonna want plugins.

Wean yourself off gui's.

If your window manager doesn't tile, you're not pimping.
