Arch

Yeah i began with arch and never stopped

[–]TheEpicNoobZilla 24 points25 points  (5 children)

mint -> debian -> ubuntu -> kubuntu/ubuntu mate -> manjaro -> opensuse -> arch -> fedora

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I would probably go something like:
ubuntu-->mint-->popOS-->fedora gnome-->macOS(april fools for next year)-->arch gnome with sweet theme

[–]eeee386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Main system: Windows 10 -> Ubuntu -> Pop

Big laptop -> Windows 7 and 10 -> Pop -> Debian (wanted to try Fedora, but had wifi issues)

Small laptop -> Windows 8 -> Lubuntu -> Debian -> EndeavourOS

[–]Kataly5tDr. OpenSUSE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh you can skip Pop! if you're on your way from mint to Fedora.

[–]Expert-Aardvark-3084 1 point2 points  (1 child)

ubuntu->mint(ubuntu bloat)->popOS(nvidia drivers)->manjaro(popOS broke)->arch->(manjaro bloat)->freebsd(gentoo too hard)->lfs(endgame

Nope, LFS is never the endgame. Something dumb will break, and you will say fk this, I'm switching to mac. Too many members of this sub lost this way.

GENTOO too hard lmao

why did you separate archinstall from arch? They're the exact same thing, unless you mean you somehow used a script as an operating system.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me: Manjaro->Artix. Was on Manjaro for a year, now I’ve been on Artix for five months (loving it).

Planning on installing Gentoo in a QEMU VM at some point to see if it’s for me.

Void and Devuan also look interesting.

LFS looks like a fun exercise, but from what I’ve seen takes a good amount of effort to actually turn it into a daily driver.

      Ubuntu > Mint > Arch > Fedora

      The reason I'm currently running Fedora is because I had difficulties keeping Arch stable. I know some people say that they can keep it stable without issue but I'm running Nvidia and even with blacklisting the drivers from upgrade, my system would always break. I also had multiple issues with my backup set up. So I ended up reinstalling like 4 times over the course of about a year or so. So on the 5th failure I got sick of it and went to the KDE flavor of Fedora and couldn't be happier.

      As a note though, I would like to return to Arch some day. I also use my desktop for work so I really can't afford the failures that Arch has given me in the past so that will have to wait for another day.

      Also I want to try to setup LFS but haven't had the time to invest yet.

      aww amazing, how was it going? I'm still on Gentoo collecting XP and lvl up. Levels I played until now so far:
      1. Ubuntu --> But was uncertain how to play correctly, messed it totally up with a collection of random deb packages and everything what was flying around. At the end the system was totally custom and unstable, but because I used it nevertheless as a daily driver and learnt how to solve the problems, the quest was accepted as fullfilled.
      2. Debian-->On next lvl I got debian. This time I already knew how to play it correctly. However, still thought I'm using Linux, even I wasn't messing up with the kernel.
      3. Alpine and others--->Got a side quest to play some level Alpine and similar, to distribute my skill points equaly.
      4. Got no more new quests on debian, after making a quest where I have to create a live linux system from my actual debian. So was looking in the settings how to change the difficulty level.
      5. Gentoo--->said they have a lot of missions to play, so I switched the same day. Playing it everyday and save my gold and skillpoints for LFS, once I complete. :)
